Did you ever have one of those days when everything goes wrong? Traffic is impossible, your kids are fighting, and your spouse does nothing to help? Before long, you feel the pressure building until something small puts you over the edge and you explode in a fury of shouting and rage. Afterwards, you feel guilt or shame but the damage is already done.
When this happens, many people need someone who can help them as they struggle to manage their anger. At Selah Mountain Ministries, a Biblical counselor can be that someone who can assist you in managing your anger. Our ministry offers Biblical counseling free of charge to anyone who is struggling with anger or any other life issues because we want to help.
Anger can be one of the most intense, destructive, and unhealthy emotions that we experience. If not handled in the right way, it can have drastic life-changing consequences. Anger can have many causes, such as the pressures of work, family, or being the victim of others’ wrongdoing. No matter what the cause, anger profoundly affects people in ways specific to their experience and personality.
Left unresolved, anger creates an intense desire to destroy something. Blowing up at our friends and loved ones, our co-workers, and even our self through self-destructive actions may make us feel better temporarily, but in the end, it never has positive results.
If this sounds familiar, you need someone to work with you in managing your anger. This is where a Biblical counselor from Selah Mountain Ministries can be of assistance. We can be a sympathetic source of support and guidance to help you manage your anger by developing a practical plan that works when finding yourself in difficult situations.
We start by learning that anger has seven levels: stress, anxiety, agitation, irritation, frustration, anger, and rage. No matter what level of anger you are experiencing, the Bible has answers dealing with it at each level. Working with you, we will teach you how to analyze the source of your anger, recognize the level, and what the Bible teaches to deal with it. The following are a few examples of how we would help you as you go through your emotions that lead to anger.
STRESS AND ANXIETY
Stress and anxiety are often triggers that start us down the road of anger. Other drivers that are not paying attention to the road, difficulties at work, or financial issues that make it difficult to make ends meet are just a few examples. When you encounter these situations, you may feel like you have enough to deal with without these added problems. Before long, the stress and anxiety begins to eat at you and you start having feelings of irritability, agitation, and frustration.
An examination of what is triggering these feelings before they lead to stress and anxiety is helpful. Meeting regularly with you, we will show you how to evaluate your previous episodes of anger to find your triggers.
IRRATIBILITY, AGITATION AND FRUSTRATION
When your stress and anxiety lead to irritability and agitation, the roots of anger and rage start to form. You may feel like you have no control over the situation. As your mind senses the rising irritability and agitation you may try to remain patient, but the situation really frustrates you. Before long, you begin to feel like you are at the end of your rope and something must be done.
When this happens, it is important to prevent your feelings from becoming destructive. We will help you to evaluate your feelings to determine if they are for the right or wrong reasons. Using Biblical principles, taking into account your triggers and communication style; we will show you how to relieve the irritability and agitation to neutralize the frustration that is building.
ANGER AND RAGE
If not stopped, anger takes over and your thoughts begin to race as you look for the quickest way to force the situation to be resolved. As things spiral out of control, your anger turns into destructive rage. If expressed outwardly, it can lead to screaming, intimidating others, or violent actions. If expressed inwardly, it may be expressed in self-destructive behaviors such as drug or alcohol abuse, unhealthy eating or sexual practices, cutting, or attempted suicide. By this point, any hope you may have had to manage your anger has gone out the window.
Help to manage the consequences of your anger and rage along with taking steps to prevent it in the future is drastically needed. If your actions have resulted in the involvement of law enforcement authorities, we can serve as court appointed anger management counselors. If there are others that are affected by your actions, we can mediate between all parties so that forgiveness, restoration, and restitution can take place.
In the end, it is our hope to help you get to a point where your anger and irritability are replaced by joy and peace so that you can enjoy your life along with the lives of others.
MINISTRY OVERVIEW
Our Goal: Our goal in providing Biblical counseling resources is to help you to manage your anger through the wisdom and power found in the Bible.
Biblically Based: Because the Bible provides thorough guidance and instruction for the issues of life, our counseling is based only on principles and teachings found directly in the Bible, and not those of secular psychology or psychiatry. Likewise, because the principles and teachings are found directly in the Bible, they are non-denominational in approach.
Not Professional Advice: While some of the counseling resources may be provided by individuals that work in professional fields outside this ministry, any resources provided are strictly based on Biblical teachings and are not to be considered to be the same kind of professional advice and services that they may perform when they are hired in their professional capacities. Therefore, if you have significant, legal, financial, medical, or other technical questions that are non-Biblical in nature, you should seek advice from an independent professional. We will be happy to cooperate with such advisors and help you to consider their advice in light of relevant Scriptural principles.
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God."
James 1:19-20 |

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath..."
Ephesians 4:26

WHY DO YOU PROVIDE COUNSELING?
We provide a Biblical anger counseling ministry because we care about you and want you to realize that God loves you. Because He loves us, He has promised us that by trusting the fact that He gave His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross, we may have eternal life, and that we may have a better life while we live on this earth. Give us call; you have nothing to lose and everything to gain in your first step toward having victory over your anger. May God bless you as you seek His peace and comfort.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?
The first step in getting started is to contact us to schedule a pre-counseling appointment. We require that the person seeking Biblical anger counseling contact us so that we know he or she is committed to attending. (The only exception to this policy would be in the case of a parent or guardian calling to arrange Biblical anger counseling for their minor child or the person in their care.) Before coming to your first appointment, we would like you to fill out “Confidential Client Information” (CCI) form and a “Consent to Christian Counseling and Discipleship” form. These forms can be picked up at our ministry office or downloaded from THIS LINK.
HOW MUCH DOES BIBLICAL ANGER COUNSELING COST?
We realize that cost is an important consideration when someone decides if he or she can receive counseling. We believe that if God gave us His Word as a gift to humanity, it would not be proper for us to charge someone to share His gift. This means we do not charge for our services nor turn anyone away for inability to pay or make a donation.
Our counseling ministry is supported through the donations and love offerings of those we serve and those who support our church ministry. If you would like to make an offering or donation to cover the cost of providing this ministry, your gift would be most appreciated, but not required.
Depending on your situation, we may recommend that you read a specific book or literature. In that case, you would be free to purchase the book or literature on your own or purchase one from us at cost. Other than that possibility, your only cost would be your time and effort coming to your appointments and completing your assignments. In any case, we do not provide counseling to make money.
